How It Works

Students work in pairs and rotate roles as photographer and director. Each week introduces a new photography skill, followed by guided challenges. The instructor provides individualized coaching while students practice. At the end of each session, students select their favorite photo to print and take home.

FAQs

Do students need a camera?

No, all cameras are provided for use. Cameras are available for purchase.

How do the younger and older students participate together?

Students are paired together, typically in their same grade. The older students have a “hard mode” task sheet to complete, while the younger students have an easier photo task sheet to complete.

What does a typical session look like?

The first few minutes of class teaches the concept that the day is focused around. There are a few different examples that the students get to see and then they are challenged to recreate some of the shots. Every week will have a different set of props available for use, and if warm enough, going outside is an option. The children are paired up as a photographer and director team – working one with another. At this time the teacher attaches to the different groups to help coach the kids. At the end of the class the teacher and students review through the pictures and the students get to select one printed picture to take home with them.

What if my child misses a class?

Students that miss the club will resume with the class upon returning. Because of their absense, they will be given the introductory notes to the concept as well as the relevant task sheet. There are no refunds for absences.
